M.O.C.K. 9
Most barefoot shoes lean a little too "granola" and completely lack style. We weren't okay with that. Born from the streets of the SF Bay Area, these sneakers are a love letter to the iconic 90s silhouettes we grew up on, reimagined for the health of your feet.
This isn't a mass-market design. To get the style, the fit, and the feel exactly right, I hand-stitched 9 different prototypes from scratch at my own workbench. The result is an amazing skate shoe that effortlessly doubles as the most comfortable daily sneaker you'll ever own.
The Build & Board Feel
-
Glued & Stitched Sole: Built to take a beating. The outsole is heavily secured for maximum durability, and when you finally wear them down, they can be resoled by your local cobbler.
-
True Foot Freedom: A zero-drop platform and wide anatomical toe box let your foot splay and engage, actively strengthening your feet while providing an intimate connection to your deck or the pavement.
Ultimate Comfort & Lockdown
-
Plush Corduroy Liner: The interior is fully wrapped in soft cotton corduroy, paired with a dedicated heel liner for superior heel lockdown and blister-free daily wear.
-
Thick Padded Collar & Tongue: Delivers 90s-era protection, a perfect locked-in fit, and serious ankle comfort. Leave the thick round laces a little loose, and they instantly become your go-to slide-ons.
-
Cork-Topped Insole: A thin, responsive insole topped with a layer of natural cork for breathable, moisture-wicking comfort that molds perfectly to your footprint over time.
-
Customizable Support: Insole Compatibility
We built these to be the foundation of your foot health, but we know every foot has different requirements. Whether you’re looking for extra impact protection or specific medical support, our design is fully compatible with aftermarket insoles:
-
Skate-Ready Protection: For high-impact sessions, the interior volume accommodates Footprint Insoles or other high-density foam inserts to save your heels without sacrificing the 90s look.
-
Orthotic Friendly: If you use a specialized orthotic or custom arch support, the wide anatomical shape provides the necessary room to drop them in comfortably.
-
The Barefoot Default: Stick with our included thin cork-topped insole for the most direct ground feel and maximum foot-strengthening benefits.
⚠️ A Note on Thickness: To maintain the integrity of the barefoot design and ensure proper foot function, we do not recommend using any insole thicker than 5mm in the forefoot or 7mm in the heel. Anything thicker may compromise the anatomical fit and ground feel.
FIND YOUR SIZE
PLEASE USE THE SIZE IMAGE FOR FINDING YOUR CORRECT SIZE. WE HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU MEASURE YOURE FOOT PROPERLY (BACK OF THE HEEL TO THE LONGEST TOE. JESSE'S FOOT IS 27.5CM LONG AND HE WEARS A SIZE 44 (28.7CM) FOR SKATEBAORDING & DAILY WEAR. HE ALSO HAS A PAIR OF SIZE 44 THAT ARE MORE OF A LAZY SLIP ON OR QUICK ERRAND SHOE.
The Gold Standard: 12mm (Approx. 1/2 Inch)
In the barefoot community and for technical footwear, 10mm to 12mm of extra space in front of your longest toe is considered the "sweet spot."
-
Why 12mm? This provides enough clearance for your feet to slide forward slightly when walking or skating without your toes jamming into the front.
-
The "Rule of Thumb": Generally, this is about the width of an adult’s thumbnail.
- Fit Note: We recommend 10-12mm of space at the end of your toes for the best barefoot experience. If you’re between sizes, size up—the padded collar will keep you locked in.
